TANJUNG PUTING NATIONAL PARK
TANJUNG PUTING NATIONAL PARK INTRODUCTION
Tanjung Puting National Park is a national park in Indonesia located in Southeast part of West Kotawaringin Agency in Central Kalimantan. The park is famous for its Orangutan Conservation, and ecotourism.

TANJUNG PUTING NATIONAL PARK AND FIRES
According to the map of the fire, almost every year, the fires burn inside the national park around the area of peatland and still leave the scar on peatland. It can be seen that the number of fire spots in March is lower than September; as well as, the amount of rainfall in March is also more than September. It can be concluded that the dry season also affects the forest fires in Indonesia. In 2015, while FNPF is able to control the fires during July and August, the strong wind in September helped the fires spread much faster. The fire spots still appear until now.

TANJUNG PUTING NATIONAL PARK CONCESSION
Despite being a national park which is aimed to be protected, approximately 65% of the forest is degraded. After President Suharto resignation in 2000, the park was overwhelmed by illegal loggers and still remain threatened by illegal logging, mining, and land clearing for agricultural purpose. According to the map, the park is more or less surrounded by oil palm plantations. The expansion along the northern borders of the park also has destroyed the forests.
